When a ceiling patch appears after rain, the leak source may not be exactly above that patch. Water can move along slopes, cracks, pipes and slab joints before entering the room.
Early signs of terrace leakage
- Brown or yellow ceiling patches
- Paint bubbles or powdery plaster
- Fungus smell in closed rooms
- Cracks near parapet walls
- Standing water on terrace after rain
Important inspection points
A contractor should check terrace slope, drain outlets, parapet joints, old coating condition, cracks, pipe penetrations and any tile or screed damage. Without this, treatment becomes guesswork.
Why drainage matters
Even good waterproofing can struggle if water remains stagnant. Proper slope and clear outlets are part of long-term terrace protection.
Tip: Do not repaint ceiling patches before leakage is resolved. The stain may disappear for a few weeks but usually returns after rain.
